How great Workyard mobile app is ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
More convenient sufficient, and less time consuming. This new technology helps workers sign in and sign out in a more sufficient way as far as having to go to a machine Wait in line and then signing her up and with so much new technology at hand, the Workyard app is just brilliant.
Android Review:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
App is amazing, it allows me as a technician if I accidentally forget to sign in to a customer that I’ll have proof I was there with the GPS location. It’s overall makes it easier on management because they can see where all the techs are and when new customers call in they’re able to call the nearest tech to pick up more business. Overall a very needed app for any business that has several techs or employees that are mobile. And it makes tracking hours easy.

Cons: I would like to have more options on being able to require certain projects have lunch breaks each day, or disallow them from having a certain amount of overtime without prior approval.

Reviews
Some Workforce users find the app easy enough to use, but others are frustrated by excessive photo requirements, persistent login issues, and time clock errors.

iOS Review:
Required Photos ⭐
The app requires you to take photos every time you clock in, every time you go on break, and every time you go on lunch, and then again when you clock out six photos every day you have to take that is excessive. this cannot be removed or altered by your employer the photos are completely mandatory. Even if your employer wants to remove the photo requirements, they cannot do so.Very invasive and your employer can’t even change it if they want.
Android Review:
⭐
this app is a complete let down and a waste of time. it boots you out of your own account, then won’t allow you to sign back in. the ‘can’t log in’ function doesent work either. considering this app is responsible for ensuring i am paid correctly, I feel that it is well below an acceptable standard. we have several employees in my workplace with the same problem. Extremely frustrating.
Capterra Review:
Easy set up ⭐⭐⭐
Overall: Saved as on manual processes that took a lot of time. We also loved our staffs having access to their calendars and also check their vacation availability
Pros: The product was very easy to implement. The scheduling is easy and tracking attendance was okay.
Cons: Time clock issues from our staffs made as switch to another product. They need to fix the punch in/out errors. With that fixed, it would be a nice product

Reviews
Deputy users appreciate its ease of use for shift management, but some report issues with automatic logouts, unreliable Zapier integrations, and payroll discrepancies.

iOS Review:
Unreliable ⭐⭐
Deputy’s Zapier integration stopped working a week ago, and all of my company’s timesheet workflows are no longer functioning. There has been zero explanation or timeline for when this is going to be fixed. There is no live tech support and it has been 4 days since I received an update. This is costing our business many hours each day as we have to manually execute tasks we had relied on Deputy to trigger, and which they still advertise as functional integration options. I expected much more from a company of this size and we are now looking into alternative providers like Connecteam.
Android Review:
⭐⭐⭐
I love the concept of the app but it keeps crashing and automatically signing me out every 24 hours! This is really frustrating because I am missing out on open shift notifications as I’m not realising it’s logged me out. Please fix this. It would also be great to have an option to reject a shift if you’re unavailable that day.
Capterra Review:
Marie Lockyer ⭐
Well I was told this app was the reason I did not get paid correctly. It is simple to download. I was able to start ,stop my shifts easy enough but something happened when I was entered on leave( which I didn’t apply for) and couldn’t start or stop my shift. Then it didn’t acknowledge my Saturday shift. So for the week I got paid 2 days. Is this the apps problem or is it the person’s putting the information in?? So at this stage I am giving the app a 1.

Reviews
QuickBooks Time users appreciate its ease of use and direct integrations, but many voice frustration over bugs and issues with employee setup and functionality.

iOS Review:
Usually good, prone to issues ⭐⭐⭐
Really simple and straightforward, love that it integrates so well with QuickBooks. It can be buggy, for example currently it won’t display employees’ total hours for the day or week, always shows 0. Waiting for an update to fix this.
We’ve always wished it would show more timesheet detail in the submit screen, so employees could see the shift detail rather than just a daily total.
Android Review:
Jake Wiebe ⭐
I was using this app for my shop for several months recently. I don’t know if an update came out or what, but now it does not work. As soon as we try to log in to the app, the screen turns white and nothing. I have tried to rein stall update. And everything is garbage now. Hopefully they can fix this.
Capterra Review:
Customer service for QuickBooks time is horrible ⭐⭐
Overall: It worked fine but it does now calculate the total pay like timesheets does. I switched to timesheets 3 months ago and like that I don’t have to do separate calculations and MOST IMPORTANT I don’t have to wait online for ever to get help. Quickbooks support sucks on all levels!!!!!!Pros: I have been using Quickbooks Time since it was T Sheets (Quickbooks bought out Tsheets) for about 8 years, I believe. It was a great product under T Sheets. Customer support was wonderful, but when it was taken over by Intuit, customer service tanked.
Cons: It was horrible to set up a new employee. Unbelievably complicated to make it work, and you could not get a support person without waiting on the phone forever!

iOS Review:
AMAZING APP ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Great app! My worker is able to punch in and out on his own mobile device, while I, the boss, have the ability to view his location of his clock in, clock out, and breaks. I also have the pleasure of syncing all my employees hours with quickbooks (for accounting purposes) and gusto (for payroll purposes). Both integrations were seamlessly and great! eBillity Time Tracker also has AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING customer service. Morris was great! Thank you for this life changing, money making, time saving app!
Capterra Review:
Formatting and basic functionality issues ⭐⭐
Overall: It seems to work for our needs, which are fairly simple and limited. However, it seems to be poorly executed and feedback is poor.Pros: It seems to work for our somewhat limited needs.
Cons: There are some formatting and basic functionality issues. The Entries screen is poorly formatted; fields block other fields and it’s easy to confuse rows. We’ve attempted to reformat the screen with limited success, and any changed reset when we log out. Also, the Time Summary chart shows a very limited amount of data and cannot be shifted to show prior periods, which makes it mostly useless.

iOS Review:
Great App, even better Customer Service! ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Timeero, the app itself & their customer service overall is great! 4.5 stars in its current state, rated this as these quality of life updates will streamline some time spent Reporting wise on the backend.Far as gps tracking & including time tracking, this is one of the best combos out there. (Primarily what we utilize Timeero for)
I’ve primarily worked with Katelyn H. & a few others here & there for any company/back end needs. Katelyn has been patient, receptive, listens to understand vs just reply. Is professional & has provided great customer service in the few short weeks we’ve been customer.
We’re very grateful for Timeero & Katelyn’s services. Helping us track, meet & exceed expectations when working with our in-field reps needs.
Love their ideas & feedback portal / roadmap. Helps provide both customers & Timeero current customer needs, what’s been & in the works to be implemented.

Reviews
When I Work users generally appreciate its ease of scheduling and interface, but some report integration issues with QuickBooks.

iOS Review:
Great App, just one minor issue ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I have been using this app for a couple years now and love it! It’s so easy to use and makes scheduling so much easier! The ONLY thing I wish they would change (and I think over the years I’ve emailed them at least 5 times about it) is the way time off is displayed on phones for managers to see.Anytime someone wants to ask for time off they text me and it is not possible for me to easily check how many other people have the day off. The way the app shows days off is in order of when people asked for it off, which means I have to scroll through all the days off and diligently look to see if I see the same date. I WISH there was an option to organize days off in order of the date needed. I always get the same response (that they will pass it off to their team to look at)…I can’t imagine I’m the only one who sees this could be useful.
Android Review:
Lindsay Neumann-Fitzsimmons ⭐⭐⭐
Most of the time, very Important messages simple will not send at all no matter how hard you try. Scheduling doesn’t post properly either. This creates a lot of redundancy and frustration.
Capterra Review:
Integration with Quick Books Online does not work. ⭐⭐
Overall: We previously used another used scheduling app and recently switched to When I Work because of the time clock feature. We were excited to be able to integrate with Quick Books Online. However, the hours do not transfer accurately. They randomly round down. Also, the overtime amounts do not drop into to employees payroll information. It is all wrapped into total hours. Which, as mentioned is not even the true total. We were told to upgrade to Quick Books Online plus to solve the issue. It did not solve the integration problem and now we are stuck with a more expensive accounting program ( QBO +) that is difficult to downgrade.Pros: Prettier interface compared to When 2 Work which is what we used for four years with no problems. W2W is much cheaper as well. It just didn’t have the time clock feature.
Cons: Cost more than other scheduling programs and doesn’t have full integration with payroll programs.

Our Scoring System Explained
Our 8-part scoring system was created to help you understand the potential value of any software we review simply and fairly.
We created it after reviewing dozens of software products, which we covered in depth, but without providing a direct and simple way for readers to compare products on their merits – without spending a lot of time looking through our articles for the information they needed to make an informed decision.
Every app we review will include Customer Support and Company scores, which we’ll explain in more detail below. Many of the factors reviewed in this article will also be consistent across most (or all) of our software reviews, with some differences:
The 8 factors assessed and their contribution to a product’s overall score may differ slightly from product to product based on various factors, such as the use case we’re reviewing for, the type of business these products are tailored to, and other considerations. However, all reviews will feature an 8-part score, weighted and combined to calculate each product’s overall score.
How We Score Software
All factors in our reviews are scored on a 10-point scale – technically 11 points – from 0-10. However, we only give products a score of 0 if it does not include an essential feature at all, and we try to avoid giving out 0 scores if a product can demonstrate any functionality in line with the specific factor being reviewed.
In general, the 0-10 range translates as:
- 9.0 – 10 – One of the absolute best in its category (amazing).
- 7.5 – 8.9 – Very good, but with some minor issues (very good).
- 6.0 – 7.4 – Mediocre performance with notable shortcomings (average).
- 3.0 – 5.9 – This feature is not ready for prime time (borderline).
- 1.0 – 2.9 – This feature actually makes its product worse (unacceptable).
- 0 – The product doesn’t include this important feature at all.
How We Calculate Overall Scores
The 8 factors reviewed are weighted based on an overall total of 100%:
- Ease of Use: 20%
- Time Tracking Accuracy: 20%
- Scheduling Features: 15%
- Job Tracking: 15%
- Integrations: 10%
- Customer Support: 15%
- Company: 5%
Methodology for Each Factor
Ease of Use
We evaluate a product’s ease of use based on three main considerations:
- How easy is it to set up this app?
- How easy is it for managers to use the backend dashboard?
- How easy is it for frontline workers to use the (mobile) app?
These three considerations cover the main ways you and your team would use the software being reviewed – when you first obtain it, when someone (a manager, executive, team leader, or similar role) needs to use it to manage people, money, data, and other things, and when workers you’re tracking use the app (usually a mobile version of the software designed for frontline and/or field team members) to clock in, clock out, record time worked, or address other day-to-day needs.
Time Tracking Accuracy
Every minute matters when you’re trying to control payroll costs. This factor accounts for various features and common needs in time-tracking apps, such as…
- How accurate or precise is its GPS tracking capability?
- How accurate – and how customizable – is its geofencing feature?
- How accurate is its travel and mileage tracking (if available)?
- Can it automatically clock workers in and out based on the above?
- Can you set and/or restrict rules for clocking in and out?
- Can the app continue tracking workers while offline?
- How easy is its mobile app and/or kiosk for frontline workers?
Scheduling Features
Many construction businesses prefer to manage as many aspects of employee labor activity as possible in a single app, which is why many time-tracking apps also include worker scheduling as a core feature.
When we consider a product’s scheduling features, we look at:
- Its dashboard customizability (daily, weekly, or monthly views).
- Its project-based scheduling and visibility.
- Its real-time updates and notifications for workers.
- Its real-time map views of worker locations for best-fit scheduling.
- Its recurring schedule (copies to subsequent weeks, etc.) functionality.
Job Tracking
This factor helps you understand if the software can also provide insight into specific projects, which is particularly handy when your business deals with many customers or clients who generally need shorter-term work. Effective job tracking typically also includes accurate job costing functionality for construction companies.
We assess several things when calculating a product’s job tracking score:
- Its project-based tracking for multiple projects per day/week/etc.
- Its ability to track multiple / many projects simultaneously.
- Its use of (and your ability to customize) construction cost codes.
- Any built-in job costing views.
- Any integrations for cost coding (QuickBooks etc.)
Integrations
No business can operate on a single app, which is why integrations with other apps and tools are such important aspects of modern business software.
To calculate a product’s integration score, we’ll examine:
- How many native integrations (the simplest connection) does it offer?
- How effective and easy-to-use are its integrations with payroll software?
- Does it have robust data import and export features?
Customer Support
Learning how to use a new app can be frustrating, even if it’s meant to be the most user-friendly app around. That’s why great customer support is so essential when considering which time-tracking app to use.
Customer support scores are calculated based on:
- Live support channels available (phone, email, chat, etc.).
- Live support hours (business hours only, 24/7, etc.).
- The strength of the product’s online help center and/or FAQs.
- What other users say about support in online reviews.
Company
A great company with a highly customer-friendly approach can often make up for shortcomings in their software products – at least up to a point.
When assessing this score, we’ll examine:
- Transparency (easy-to-find pricing, etc.)
- Trial period (duration, feature availability, credit card requirements, etc.).
- Subscription flexibility (contracts, required durations, etc.).
- Ease of cancellation or pausing subscriptions.
- Customer perceptions (online product reviews).
- Website (a minor consideration, but great companies tend to have great websites).
