What is a GPS time clock?

A GPS time clock is a time-tracking system that uses your phone's technology to track and record the locations and times of employees' work hours.

Workyard's GPS time clock app has every feature you need to track time accurately. A few key features are accurate location tracking, customizable geofencing, real-time data, and integrations with payroll and accounting systems.

How does a GPS time clock app ensure time card accuracy?

Every time employees clock in, our built-in GPS tracking will start recording their exact location. Throughout the day Workyard will automatically detect and record the exact time they arrive at each job site they visit and the exact time they leave. All locations visited will be recorded, even if you haven't set them up as a project. For example, a visit to Home Depot. Driving trips will also be automatically detected and their exact driving route including travel time and mileage driven will be recorded.

Unlike most GPS time tracking solutions that just plot a GPS trace on a map, Workyard goes way beyond this by providing you with a usable data set of locations visited, time per location, travel time and mileage.

This gives you complete transparency of where everyone in your crew was for every minute of every time card. With this information you can be confident your payroll is 100% correct.

To make timesheet approvals easy, Workyard's time tracking alerts surface potential mistakes and inaccuracies. For example we'll automatically detect workers clocking in or out while driving and workers clocking in outside of defined project locations. If you do need to adjust time, you can so do so with a couple clicks knowing that you have the GPS tracking log as an audit trail to support your adjustments and ensure accurate timesheets.

Yes, you can set up Workyard to automatically clock in workers when they enter a worksite or geofenced area.

Can I restrict clock in to geofenced locations?

Yes, you can use time clock rules to restrict clock in and out times, and also restrict clock in to geofenced locations.

What location permissions are required to use your GPS time tracking app?

To use Workyard effectively, certain permissions are needed on employees devices. These permissions are needed to track and record your team. These permissions vary depending on the devices operating system (iOS or Android), but generally include: access to the device's GPS, background location access to track your team even when the app isn't open, Wi-Fi and network information to improve tracking, and location services.

Does your GPS time tracker capture travel time & mileage?

Yes. Workyard automatically detects every time a clocked in worker starts a driving trip and records their exact driving route, the miles travelled and the travel time for the trip. Our time tracking software will provide you with convenient dashboards and reports to monitor employee mileage and travel time on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

Can I turn off GPS location tracking for specific employees?

Yes, you can turn off location tracking for certain employees in time clock rules within Workyard.

Does the GPS work when there is no cell phone coverage?

Workers are able to clock in and out even when their phone is offline. The GPS tracking relies on satellite signal, so it will continue to work even without an internet connection.

Does Workyard support supervisors recording hours on behalf of their crews?

Workyard allows supervisors to clock in and out their crew by selecting the workers that they want to clock in from the mobile app.

Do you support geo-fencing?

Yes, you can set up geofences for your projects to easily detect arrivals and departures across your whole crew and more. The clock in app with GPS makes this setup easy.

How do you deal with employees switching off location access on their phone?

We proactively detect a range of scenarios like employees switching off location access or simply turning off their phone and make you aware of it by displaying the events that occurred on the time card.

Can I see live locations for my employees when they are clocked in?

Yes, Workyard offers real-time GPS locations of every employee. There is also a map where you can see where your entire team is at any time.
